The National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands (NOCSI) Athletes’ Commission has successfully concluded its Annual General Meeting (AGM), marking a significant step forward in strengthening athlete representation and voice within the country’s sporting landscape. The AGM brought together athlete representatives from across 18 National Federations to elect new leadership to guide its work in the coming term.
The Athletes’ Commission plays a vital role in ensuring that athletes are not only participants but decision-makers in the Olympic Movement. Through its seat on the NOCSI Executive Board, the Commission guarantees that athlete perspectives influence national sports policy, development programs, and preparations for major events such as the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics.
At the Annual General Meeting on Sunday 22nd February, 2026 at the Sports Legacy House, the elections for the SIAC Board and its positions including Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary and Ordinary Members (3).
This year the attendance recorded a total of 35 athletes from 18 National Federations.
The newly elected Board for the SI Athletes Commission are as follows:
Chairperson: Francis Manioru (Athletics)
Vice Chairperson: Esther Yates Pollard (Canoeing/ Va’a Federation)
Secretary: Renlizia Etua (Canoeing/ Va’a Federation)
Ordinary Members:
Benjamin Junior (Tennis Association)
Robson Talu (Archery Federation)
Vinda Teally (Tennis Association)
The outgoing members of the Athlete Commission are: Tony Lomo, Susie Teno, Helen Aumae and Selwyn Kouto.
