The National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands (NOCSI), also the Commonwealth Sport Association of Solomon Islands (CWSASI), celebrated the inaugural King's Baton Relay (KBR) on January 5th and 6th, 2026. This two-day activation provided athletes, officials, and national federation representatives with an opportunity to participate in and celebrate this historic event.
The celebration commenced on January 5th with a beach-front clean-up at Tanahoru, a popular picnic and family outing destination among Honiara residents. At the conclusion of the clean-up, the tools used were handed over to the local owners, symbolizing community involvement and environmental responsibility.
On January 6th, a 1-kilometer relay was held, starting from opposite the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) and concluding at the Sport Legacy House (NOCSI). The event was followed by various sports activities, engaging the community and promoting active participation.
